Harry Potter Predictions
I thought I would start a thread here about some Harry Potter predictions. I don't want to run something with a lot of spoilers over at the big site. Read on to hear my thoughts.
So basically we've seen some serious development in the characters over the last couple books. Harry, Hermione and Ron are all becoming confused teenagers. Here's some things I see happening:
1) Hermione and Ron. Rowling's been teasing it forever. I think it will actually happen in the next book.
2) Malfoy. I think Rowling could go two opposite ways with Malfoy. Either he will avenge his father's arrest by attacking Harry in the near future or possibly even becoming a Death Eater himself, or he will see the error of his ways and join forces with the D.A.. I would at least expect to see one or more Slytherins in the D.A. next book becuase of the Sorting Hat talking about the necessity for the houses to be united. Another interesting thing to ponder is what Dumbledore will do about the children of known Death Eaters. Will they be allowed at Hogwarts?
These are just a couple things. I'm tired, so I'll continue later.
i thought you made a good point about how draco was going to be in the D.A. , and how you said the sorting hat said some thing about all the houses united, because i had forgoten about that part. i think you site is great , and your predictions correct.

Here are a couple of my predictions about the future Harry Potter books.
1. Harry Potter starts dating Luna Lovegood, and after thay have both graduated she becomes Luna Potter.
2. In book 7, Bellatrix Lestrange will be matched up in the final battle with Neville Longbottom, who is only a match for her because of the continued DADA lessons he gets from Harry.
3. In book 5, Voldemort learned that he could use his connection with Harry to invade his mind and manipulate his thoughts. Somewhere in either book 6 or book 7 turnabout will be fair play as Harry learns to do the same to Voldemort.

Remus Lupin will be killed by(or kill)(in book 6 or 7)someone who he thought was a good friend(!as close as a brother!):this refers to the story of Romulus and Remus(a roman myth). the story goes that romulus and remus were brothers who became rulers of rome. I forget which one did it, but one of the brothers becomes correpted by power and kills the other brother. and Sirius Black will somehow come back and infiltrate and become a key spy from inside voldemort's inner circle.("Sirius" is the name of a bright star that is far from any other stars. Black(the color) is used mainly to represent evil.

okay. whew. i love reading the predictions everyone posts. i thought maybe i'd take part in this.
firstly, i'd just like to say that ron and hermione will make a wonderful couple. :)
now, on to more in-depth discussions...
it's a bit coincidental how pettirew's severed hand was replaced with a silver one, isn't it? especially considering the only effective method of ridding oneself of a werewolf is via silver. the mention of the greek myth involving romulus and remus, and how one kills the other, is very appropriate. however, i doubt rowling will go through the trouble of saying "oh yeah, lupin has a brother." which leads me back to the bond shared among padfoot, prongs, wormtail, and moonie. they were all like brothers. could it be that the brother-like connection that lupin and pettigrew one shared would apply to the myth of one brother killing another? i know all of my thoughts are sort of thrown together, but, if you really pay attention, it makes a trace of sense.
okay, my next assertion is probably one of the more common ones. i only say this, because i mentioned it at a different site, and was made fun of for being redundant. so, if you've heard this one before, try not to get upset with me...
on page thirteen of book five, we are in the middle of harry taunting dudley, attempting to provoke him into a fight. harry asks dudley if he will be beating up any more eleven-year-olds. after all, they "did mark evans last week." The little flags in my mind didn't go up until the second time i read it. I recalled lily potter's maiden name as being "evans." we all are aware of the fact that rowling simply doesn't do coincidences, which is cause for question: to what relation is this mark evans to harry? they can't be brothers; lily and james died before mark could have been born. they could be cousins, but how? dumbledore has never metioned anything about harry having relations outside of the dursleys. then again, dumbledore is the most frustratingly untruthful character in the series, so anything he does or doesn't say should be brought under suspicion. we see through the black family tree how intricately woven wizarding families tend to be, which means that mark does not have to be related to harry but through something like third or fourth cousins. how they are related really isn't the question, though. rather, it's more an issue as to how tactfully rowling will choose to break the news to harry. the news that, for eleven years, he has lived in a neighborhood with a distant cousin of sorts. harry's reaction to this news scares me. but one thing is for sure, this mark evans will most definitely attend hogwarts next year, seeing as how he is specified as being eleven. who knows: mark evans may very well be the slytherin couterpart that we've all been anticipating for so long. regardless of what it is, we'll all have to accept whatever rowling has already determined as being the best direction for the books to go.
she knows best.
thank you for reading this... it's been good times. :)

I reckon Umbridge is a death eater. She probably was sent by Voldemoert to spy on Fudge coz we don't here of here as being a ministry worker till the start of the year when Voldemort returns this year. She gives Harry detentions for telling the truth about Voldemort's return coz Voldemort doesn't want anyone to know about his return. She hurts Harry in detentions wen she touches him, send dementors to get Harry, when they're outside ministry control, and she tries to leave Hogwarts before anyone sees her at the end of book 5 when everyone knows Voldemort's back.

I think that there probably will be something to do with that veil in the sixth book. It didn't seem right leaving it like that and not knowing what it was about. And what about Luna saying that "it's not like we'll never see them again anyway? You heard them lurking just behind the veil" (or something) I hope that they go back there. I was kinda hoping that Harry would go down to the trapdoor and see the mirror of erised coz then, if he wants to, he'll see Sirius. I love HP and I'm reading it for the 8th time.

That was a good point about how Hermione and Ron will go out. Ron obviously likes Hermione or he wouldn't be so uptight about her and Krum going out. Ron also wants Harry and Ginny to go out coz he was all grumpy when Hermione said Ginny and Michael Corner were going out. Then, at the end of book 5 he tipped over the chessboard on the train when Ginny said she was going out with Dean Thomas. He also gave Harry an oddly "furtive" look. That's what I think!! ;)

I think that all of these predictions are very interesting but i want another one here it Sirius Black was being poisoned in the 5th book. Now you might think what makes me say this well if you have or have not noticed Sirius was not reckless at all in book 4 but he definately was very reckless in book 5. the question is WHY? well remember Harry was reading a book and then he fell asleep. (book 5 before Dobby woke him up). well the book was talking of the ingreadients that make you hotheaded and reckless, it also makes you feel angry well this is were i got the idea from. Also it seems that Snape knew about this because the very first lesson Snape makes them make a potion "the draught of peace" this calms the drinker down and so he might have wanted Harry to use such a potion on Sirius and he also is being unfair to Harry because harry doesnt add the right ingredient so he wants to get harry to do it right for Sirius. If u have anything to say to this please write back to me i would love what you think

Hey, I figured I'ld write a few comments of my own!
1) No way Draco is going to "see the error in his ways." So far, Draco has been a very surface character. He's mean, and there's not much else. I think that we would have seen more hints of character development if Draco was going to change.
2) No way Sirius is going to come back. One of the major themes of the serries, sometimes you just have to accpet fate (i.e., Harry's parents can't come back, Harry couldn't live with Sirius, and Dumbledore can't fix every problem). I don't think that Rowling would change this theme to reencarnte Sirius. Also, another theme is that death is final. There is never any reencarnation, short of the Priori Incantum in 4. To bring Sirius back would be a HUGE thematic turnaround, and considering that if you look at Rowling's plots logically she doesn't usually break rules like that it just doesn't make sense.

I THINK THAT MARK EVANS WILL PLAY A BIG PART IN THE UP COMING BOOKS CAUSE THE HINT ABOUT THEIR NAMES WAS SO SMALL. ALSO I THINK THAT PATUNIA WILL PLAY A BIG PART CAUSE THE HOWLER WASN"T ALL THE WAY EXPLAINED. ONLY THE "REMEMBER" PART WAS BUT DIDN'T IT SAY "REMEMBER MY LAST" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? ALSO THAT "WEASLEY'S WIZARDS WEZZES" WIIL PLAY A BIG PART. RON AND HERMIONE WILL NOT GO OUT OR THEY WILL NOT WORK OUT AT ALL AND IT WILL RUIN THE BOND THAT THE 3 OF THEM HAVE BECAUSE IT IS TO OBVIOUS. LIKE CHO AND HARRY, EVERONE KNEW THAT THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN BUT THE ONLY REASON CHO WENT OUT W/ HARRY WAS BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO TALK ABOUT CEDRIC. AND SIRUS WILL NOT COME BACK TO LIVE BUT THEY WILL FIND OUT IMPORTANT STUFF ABOUT HIM THAT WILL HELP THE DEFEAT OF VOLDERMORT. AND IM VERY SAD TO SAY THIS BUT I PRETTY SURE RON WILL DIE, I AM SAD TO SAY THIS BECAUSE RON IS MY FAV, BECAUSE THERE IS AN ANCHIENT STORY ABOUT A MAN NAMED RUNNING WEASLE. IT SAYS THAT A RAT THAT WAS DIED YELLOW(YELLOW DAISIES BUTTER MELLOW TURN THIS STUPID FAT RAT YELLOW!) KNOCKS OVER A TORCH AND BURNS RUNNING WEASLE TO HIS DEATH. IT ALL MAKES SINCE CAUSE #6 IS SAPPOSE TO BE CALLED HARRY POTTER AND THE GREEN FLAME TORCH. PETER CAN'T KILL HARRY CAUSE HARRY SAVED HIS LIFE IN BOOK 3 SO HE DOES THE NEXT BEST THING KILLS THE PERSON WHO MEANS THE MOST TO HIM...RON.

in reading Adam's comment, i see his point.
Perhaps this Mark kid is Harry's Slytherin Counterpart... but for good? perhaps this kid could cause Unity between Hogwarts houses, after some disagreements in the 6th book between Mark and Harry, then finally a agreement and interdependance in the 7th, where they team up to fight L.V.?
I Agree Maria... and who ever posted before me too.

WHY DUS RON HAVE 2 DIE R UR PREDICTIONS SURELY TRUE R U JK ROWLING??
N I ALSO WANNA NO WHEN HERMIONE WILL START LIKING RON B COZ ITS REALLY IMPORTANT
N WHY CANT IT B HARRY N GINNY OR HARRY N CHO

Harry Potter: Theories & Predictions
Upon reading the first of the 5 Harry Potter books I have noticed that there is a lot of symbolism, foreshadowing, and irony that reveal events that will occur in the rest of the story if the reader is keen enough to spot them. Below are a few theories and predictions I have formulated along with a few justifications for them.
1) In the seventh book, Dumbledore will die.
The reason I believe this is because of a foreshadowing in the fifth book, at the end when Voldemort approaches Harry near the fountain in the Ministry of Magic. As the green light from the Avada Kedavra curse is heading towards Harry, it is suddenly blocked by a piece of a statue from the fountain that is sent flying through the air and Harry turns to see Dumbledore "in front of the Golden Gates". I believe that this is a foreshadowing of Dumbledore's death and ascent into heaven.
2) In the seventh book, Harry will vanquish Voldemort, without the use of his wand, but will die in the process. Harry will die first, at Voldemort's wand, and then Voldemort will die. As soon as Voldemort dies, Harry will return to life again. During his brief period of death, he will see his parents, Sirius, Dumbledore, and everyone else that he knows who have died. Dumbledore will tell him that it is not his time yet and that he needs to return to the other world, on the other side of the veil.
The reason I believe this is because of a foreshadowing in the first book, in the chapter "The Mirror of Erised". Harry and Ron go to the mirror and Harry sees his family. Ron looks into it and sees an older version of himself as Head Boy and the Captain of the Quidditch team. He says to Harry, "Do you think this mirror tells the future?" and Harry says, "How can it? Both my parents are dead." I believe that what the boys see in the mirror is a foreshadowing of what will happen in the seventh and final book. I think also that Dumbledore, at the end of the chapter, sees himself with his family, who Voldemort killed long before Harry was born, and does not want to tell Harry this when Harry asks him what he sees in the mirror.
There is also another reason I believe prediction #2 and it has to do with the prophecy and Dumbledore's Phoenix. The reason the prophecy states "...for neither can live while the other survives..." is because both Harry and Voldemort are linked to the Phoenix by their wands. In the mythology of the Phoenix, only one Phoenix can exist at a time and once it dies, its offspring is reborn out of its ashes. The Phoenix represents the constant cycle of life and death or in Asian philosophy, the yin and the yang. We notice that there is a reflection of this in the lives of Harry and Voldemort. Harry represents the promise of life in his constant attempts to save people's lives and Voldemort represents the "Flight of Death" (In French, "Vol de Mort") in his relentless pursuit to take them. Because the Phoenix represents the constant cycle of life and death, it represents immortality which is what Voldemort tries to achieve through all his magical efforts or "magical transformations", but fails because, in this pursuit, he becomes something that is not truly alive. We notice that Voldemort survives to the point where he tries to kill Harry as a baby but instead is ripped from his body, loses his power and becomes a shadow (not a ghost as Dumbledore says "Not truly being alive, he cannot be killed"). Then in the Goblet of Fire, Voldemort is resurrected (similar to the Phoenix) using the bone of his father, flesh of his servant, and blood of his foe, Harry. When Dumbledore hears this, Harry sees a "look of triumph" on his face. I think this means that Voldemort can now be killed because of the simple fact that the blood, in the bloodline that he shed when he killed Lily, which protected Harry at the beginning, is now coursing through Voldemort's veins. He can now kill Harry with his killing curse but in doing so he will kill himself and release the power inside Harry, the "life-force" that resides in the Department of Mysteries, that Harry has in such quantities. This is why I think Harry will die first. When Voldemort dies, the same power that kills Voldemort will restore Harry to a new life, so Harry will be just like the Phoenix that overcomes death, or more literally, the "Flight of Death" ("Vol de Mort"), and is reborn.
3) When Harry and Voldemort have their last battle, Harry will lure Voldemort to him, instead of going "seeking" for Voldemort.
I don't think that it is a coincidence that Harry is the youngest seeker in a century and is also the one who seeks, or is lured by, Voldemort into danger. This is the case in all 5 books so far except for PoA (but even in PoA, he finds Sirius). I think we will see a point where Harry is no longer the Quidditch seeker and this will be a foreshadowing to his and Voldemort's final battle. Harry will lure Voldemort to him. The reason I believe this is from the Goblet of Fire when he is fighting the dragon with his "diversionary tactics". The text describes the dragon with "eyes with slits for pupils" and that it "sways like a snake before its charmer". Harry says to it, "Come on. Come and get me." I believe that this will be his strategy at the end, after Dumbledore is killed. He will be so angry with Voldemort, he won't care about dying.
4) Ron will become Head Boy and the Captain of the Quidditch team. He and Hermione will become a couple.
5) Hermione will become Head Girl and will succeed with her Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. There will be an Elf revolution.
The reason I believe this is because, in the Goblet of Fire, both Harry and Ron keep telling her to give up her quest for revenge against Rita Skeeter but she doesn't and instead traps Rita in her own deceit. Harry and Ron also tell her to give up her pursuit of Elfish Welfare but she refuses. I think that she will succeed with this too. It will end up being her profession and a new branch of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures (although I think Mr. Weasley will change the name of the department). The last part about the Elf revolution is just a hunch and I thought I would add it for fun.
6) Cornelius Fudge and Percy with be killed. Arthur Weasley will become Minister of Magic and will make a new wizarding holiday called "Hug a Muggle" day or something.
In the Order of the Phoenix, Ron makes a joke about his dad becoming the Minister of Magic. Everytime Ron, Harry, or the twins joke about a something, it is usually significant later on. For example, the twins joke about Ron becoming like Percy and being made a prefect and then in the fifth book, it happened. Also, in the same book, Harry and Ron made all those "phony" predictions for Professor Trelawney's class that all came true.
7) McGonagall will become Hogwart's headmistress after Dumbledore's death.
8) Snape will betray Dumbledore.
9) Wormtail will redeem himself and save Harry but will be killed by Voldemort for doing so.
10) Harry and Luna will become a couple and Harry will become an Auror and work for the Ministry.

Book Six Predictions:
JKR said that in Book 6 someone important will die and someone in Hogwarts will switch houses.
I predict that Fudge will die in this book and that Luna will switch from Ravenclaw to Gryffindor.

Book Six Predictions:
JKR said also that in Book 6 something "small" in the Chamber of Secrets will be big in this one. I predict that it will be Hermione's parents. We met them briefly in the second book but I think they will play a bigger role in Book 6. They will be a target for Voldemort. He will go after them so as to lure Harry to him again, just like he did with Ginny in the Chamber and with Sirius in the OotP.
She also said that Harry will sustain a minimal but lasting injury. I think this will happen at the end of Book 6 and the injury will render him unable to play Quidditch. This will tie in with the theory of the end of Harry's role as a "seeker".

SORRY I FORGOT TO PUT MY NAME LAST TIME I PUT STUFF.
NOW I WANTED TO EXPRESS MY OPINIAN ON SNAPE BEING A VAMPIRE. IN BOOK 1 WHEN YOU READ IT IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT HE IS BECAUSE EVERYTIME SNAPE MOVES IT SAYS SOMETHING LIKE "MOVED AS SWIFTY AS LIKE A BAT" AND I FORGET WHAT BOOK BUT RON WAS JOKEING AND HE SAID MAYBE SNAPE CAN TURN INTO A BAT AND WE ALL KNOW THAT EVERY TIME RON JOKES IT RIGHT AND IN #3 WHEN SNAPE ASSIGNS THE WEREWOLF ESSAY LUPIN THEN ASSIGNES A VAMPIRE ESSAY AND AT THE END OF BOOK THREE DEAN THOMAS SAID MYBE NEXT YEAR WE WILL HAVE A VAMPIRE I DOUBT THAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT "MOODY"
Posted by: ELLIE | January 06, 2004 at 08:12 AM
Regarding Snape being a vampire, I agree with Ellie on this one. I never noticed the clues but that's a really good observation. In the first book, Quirrel is harassed by Snape and seems to be afraid of him. Snape says, "You don't want me as your enemy, Quirrel" Also, in the first book, Quirrel keeps loads of garlic in his classroom to ward off a vampire that he supposedly met in Romania. Could it be that it was to ward off Snape? In the first and second books, it is true that Snape is described to be batlike. Also, in the fourth book, Harry, Ron and Hermione are talking about Snape keeping Harry from telling Dumbledore that Crouch was on the grounds. Ron questions whether or not Snape did it on purpose because he knew Crouch was there and tried to thwart Harry. Ron says "How much time would he have had to get back to the castle?" and Harry said, "He wouldn't have been able to make it, not unless he could change into a bat or something."
It is also true that, in book 3, Lupin assigns a vampire essay, because Neville and Harry are talking about it near the one-eyed witch (when Harry is trying to escape to Hogsmeade) then Snape walks up to them and interrogates Harry on what he and Neville are doing there.
I bet that Snape is a vampire, although not a complete one, and this is why Dumbledore will not let him have the DADA position. I think it may also have something to do with why Snape renounced Voldemort to spy for the Order (the original Order). Maybe Dumbledore performed a bit of magic for him after he was bitten and prevented him from becoming a full-blown vampire because you notice that Snape can go outside and be in the sunlight. If he were a full-blown vampire, he would not be able to do that.

I would like to express my astonishment at the fact that no one noticed the OBVIOUS CLUE in the quote from the 5th book "he did mark evans last week" Well, lets think about this for a sec...
MARK EVANS!!
As in, when Voldy *maked Harry as his equal*!
Maybe it means that he MARKED EVANS! Voldy marks evans to kill her, etc.
It may be a weird important clue about Harry's mum's death.
Posted by: Sammy | January 11, 2004 at 12:06 AM
lolol, i never guess that! MARK Evans! we all know that J.K.R. hav a way with words, but..., wow, this one is freakishly cool. about him being the counterpart of Harry, i don't think there's much chance of that...but omg! MARK! i never knoticed that!!!!!!dude!!!!!!!!!ur a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How come no one takes into consideration the "GLEAM OF TRIUMPH" the one in Dumbledores eyes after harry tells him that Voldermort was able to touch him. Now i also agree with MCD it could be a good thing. But what is the propability that it might be bad. I think that maybe Dumbledore is working for, or is Voldermort. Think about it, how come Dumbledores always gone when Voldermort appears. How come Voldermort never tried to take over Hogworts, before Harry was born, but now he is.
I have but one more prediction to make..........
THE RETURN OF DRACO MALFOY THE AMAZING BOUNCING FERRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

i think that in the next book malfoy will finally come to terms with himself, i mean come on can any1 say "Closet Case" he is always picking on harry and i don't think that harry truly dislikes it either. On another note i think voldermort is working with a higher even darker power....... "The Almighty Penguin"
